BUYING GUIDE / Our selection of student laptops

The Asus Transformer Mini: small but hardworking
The youngest of the Asus Transformer series does not demerit and is positioned as a very good laptop for taking notes, writing a homework and surfing the web. We appreciate first of all its great compactness (less than 800 grams for 1.4 cm thick) and its modularity, since it benefits from a detachable keyboard. The 10.1-inch screen can be used as a tablet under Windows 10. It is certainly not very powerful, but its Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor is sufficient for simple office automation. In addition to its very correct price, it enjoys an excellent battery life, which guarantees a day of use without having to use a charger.
HP Specter X360: the promo major
The "convertible" format is becoming more and more popular and many manufacturers offer ultraportable PCs with a screen capable of switching to 360 degrees. Among them, HP remains a reference, thanks to Specter x360. This convertible is indeed one of the best on the market, thanks to a 13.3-inch screen particularly good, a range of at least 12 hours and a very worked design. This new generation benefits from an even more sophisticated design and we particularly appreciate a very thin screen frame and a very comfortable keyboard. It is, moreover, very versatile, thanks to a solid technical sheet, and will allow you to perform many tasks in excellent conditions.
Lenovo Ideapad 710S Plus: the good student at less than 1000 €
Lenovo's Ideapad family includes a very large number of products with varying levels of quality. Among them, the Ideapad 710S Plus is one of the most applied. This ultraportable brings together all that is expected of a good product of this type: ease of transport (1.18 kg, 14.8 mm thick, compact charger), very good autonomy (9 hours measured streaming video playback), beautiful 13.3-inch screen, versatile configuration for all uses and impeccable finishes. A price / quality ratio almost unbeatable.
Apple MacBook Air 13.3 ": the enduring
Among the qualities of this MacBook Air, an incredible autonomy of 12:35 during our test (watching a series streaming on Netflix, 200 cd / m² screen, keyboard backlight off, headphones connected). What to largely hold a day of course away from a socket.
Its compact size (30 x 1.7 x 19.2 cm for 1.1 kg) allows it to fit easily into most bags, while being able to cope with most tasks with a configuration based on Intel Core i5 processor and an SSD. Only small shadows on the board, a slab type TN (1440 x 900 px) that does not offer the most accurate colorimetry and connectivity a little limited. It remains no less than this notebook can make a great classmate for those who chew for the apple.
Acer Aspire VX 15: for gourmet courses
Some courses require a powerful machine, able to quickly process video tasks, photo, modeling, etc. For them, there is a particularly suitable mobile solution: the Acer Aspire VX 15. This relatively compact 15.6 inches (389 x 265 x 29 mm) and lightweight (2.5 kg) for this diagonal integrates a fairly powerful configuration and latest generation: Intel i7-7700HQ processor, SSD and HDD association, 16 GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti graphics card. What make calculations quite heavy, and even, just relax between two courses, play the best games of the moment.
